Native civ designs is a failure now
Re: Native civ designs is a failure now
May be they want to see how low pickrate the civ can reach?

Re: Native civ designs is a failure now
That's just straight-up wrong. The civ was always designed around mobility and map control. So yes, you're just badcallentournies wrote: ↑16 Feb 2023, 20:23Lakota has always been a poorly designed civ since, almost by design, they win any upright fight but lose to buildings. So people just build buildings. Lakota produces the most obnoxious games (maybe im just bad). Devs tried to return lakota to being a horsie civ by nerfing the fuck out of its bow pike shipments (4 clubs? lmao) but jesus, 4 clubs. Horsie civ needs early age 2 options to not just lose to inf, cuz they have to make horse. Idk. Lakota gets DE'd hard. It's to DE's fault -- and my wonder -- that that makes me actually feel bad for Lakota.

Re: Native civ designs is a failure now
Bit of a miscommunication here but I’ll bite more on this topic.
They have great units, good tempo (200 pop, good shipments), and attack dance scales and synergies great with their good units. One of the best BBs in the game for a mid game over pop power spike. When given a modicum of eco their armies are too good in the open.
It’s so hard to balance, because they either feel shit or insane. Their opponents are incentivized to turtle not because they’re out mobilized (although yes) but because they can’t win a fight without walls, towers, and forts. And the most reliable win condition is to outscale with eco.
My point is that when they don’t have eco options their best build is absolutely to inf + 4 AR rush behind stagecoach. Really boring civ that produces boring games (or some of the best <map> games in awhile). Kaister was fun to watch though.
When a civ has NO artillery, its compensation is hard to tune to not be only bearable by building buildings.
It CAN be tuned good, and probably was for a time, just feels it isn’t rn. Maybe there just aren’t any good Lakota players left.

All Lakota needs imo is age3 food options, because they consume food like it's nothing and need Age 4 to get the infinite bison or tons of wood to set up the farms. An Age 3 infinite 10 bison would go a long long way.

Lakota is actually easy to say and type so switching from Sioux to Lakota is easy. It's not like Iro where the DE name is long and annoying to say/type, so most people still use Iro (or so I thought but I read through the thread and people are using Haud).

Sioux is just pronounced as "Su" (Or "seeu" in French). Is one of those French words that you don't pronounce half of the word for some reason.dicktator_ wrote: ↑01 Mar 2023, 19:30Lakota is actually easy to say and type so switching from Sioux to Lakota is easy. Alternatively call them Longhouse People. It's the same thing. :)Don Nameless wrote: ↑02 Mar 2023, 19:14Easier iro, haude.... Do you pronounce de "o" thought? I feel like both "sioux" or "siu" will sound like "seeu" (With the French "u" at the end), which is the French pronunciation.Aykin Haraka wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 15:02we only do not pronounce the 'x'

Or you pronounce "sioux" like "seeaught" like harcha said and I'm being autistic about it?
Re: Native civ designs is a failure now
The French "u" is not identical to its "ou". It's difficult to explain the difference in English. For German, it is that u = ü and ou = u. Since English doesn't know the former sound, I could imagine that the two sounds look identical to English native speakers.
I'm like 99% sure that the pronunciation of Sioux as "Seeu" is as correct as you can get.

are you even french mate ?
Re: Native civ designs is a failure now
It’s not because it’s an "e" sound, and not an "ee" sound, as in ship, not sheep.duckzilla wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 09:18The French "u" is not identical to its "ou". To help pronounce it, just start saying "see you" and shorten the "ee" sound, and voilà…

Google translator provides pronunciation with all languages. Just sayin.
