AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
Hello everyone,
I have very recently announced my public release of my 22 Civilization Supremacy Guide, if you have not seen the announcement yet, feel free to check it out here:
My girlfriend and I have been working on a custom website on which we will release this e-book/e-course on friday 17th, the countdown can be found here:
https://www.tickcounter.com/countdown/5 ... de-release
To sum things up - I want to list what exactly I have been working on for these 6 months and what exactly this guide includes:
1. Two of my favourite build orders for all 22 civilizations in written form (44 build orders total)
2. Decks for all 44 build orders
3. 44 videos of me showing every build order vs AI
4. 44 extra videos of me showing every build vs a pro (Kingu/Kevin/Revnak); These games are actually a good watch regardless of learning the civs on a side note :)
5- 22 brief match-up descriptions for EVERY civilization
6. One additional build order for EVERY civilization for team games (+according decks)
7. Tierlist resulting from my match-up descriptions (my personal opinion)
To all this you can receive your personal access/login starting on friday 17th for a one time price of $19.99 with the intention to make this accessable for EVERYONE
I really hope you get to appreciate this as much as I am hoping you will, enjoy the content :)

Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
Yea I started reading the GS guide recently because I'm interested to see how Julian's guide compares with it.
Julian also said that he'll update the guide when new patches drop, so I think it's definitely worth the price. Gonna buy it and then play some supremacy using the builds, it'll be interesting to try the civs I've never really played.
My only criticism is that he shouldn't have bothered with team

I also planned the video sections to be a valueable inclusion in the guide - it's roundabout 13.5h of full pro gameplay just through the pro videos + another ~7h on the AI videos

Nice. Imo it should be free for fellow guide writers. Who knows it might even inspire them to actually play the game
EDIT @JulianK We have to talk about something though

Calling yourself the GOAT is not recommended. You're aware the game hasn't been competitive for years? And even if you are the best player of all time, going around applying the label to yourself is not a good look ngl.The website wrote:Featuring the most popular unit compositions via written explanations and live video demonstrations from the GOAT (JulianK)
Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
Hey there, I actually don't really know who you are, but if you wrote guides in the past that's awesome!! However I must say that I am not really sure how that qualifies you for a free copy given I did not make any other exceptions for friends etc. either :).Goodspeed wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 13:15Nice. The GOAT label is mostly fun, those who interact on my stream for a while know that. So "bad look" seems to be your very subjective perception which is obviously okay and I'll take the feedback. So far there has been zero complaints and I think that's because most people will judge based on the quality of the guide more than some of the wording .
Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
If that's your perception that's okay and in that sense you're not the one adressed with the guide. I am aware of different reasons for which some people think such guides should be free, but I actually worked my ass off for it and pay a monthly fee to run the site and keep the quality, so I think the pricing is quite fine :)
Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
That was an unserious attempt to get free shit, no worries.
"Mostly fun" I see. Ok your stream viewers are in on the joke (and a joke it is regardless), but you posted this here so I assume your target audience is broader than just stream viewers. Maybe add a ";)"The GOAT label is mostly fun, those who interact on my stream for a while know that. Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
Sure, can do that. And of course it is a joke, I know who holds #1, #2 and #3 on the ladder! x)Goodspeed wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 15:38That was an unserious attempt to get free shit, no worries.

Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
@JulianK hold on, aren't you an old school treaty player? surely you've been around here for a long time. or am I mixing you up with someone else?
edit: yeah you're floko lol, you've been around for ages. I'm surprised you don't know who goodspeed is lol
I knew you had a supremacy arc and you became quite good

Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
Old school is relative, I first played towards the end of 2015 as a complete noob And like you said - I was purely playing treaty at the time so I barely knew anyone from supremacy.
Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
Was it you or someone else who was treaty GOAT? I know there was a treaty player that was almost untouchable in the past. I think it was you? @dicktator_ can you confirm or deny?
Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
It is me, but I started being untouchable in 2019, not beforeiNcog wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 16:08Was it you or someone else who was treaty GOAT? I know there was a treaty player that was almost untouchable in the past. I think it was you? @dicktator_ can you confirm or deny?

It's funny that you met each other only now. Julian played in several ESOC tournaments and streams quite a lot.

Re: AoE 3: DE 22 Civilization Guide
Cool time to write another essay, but this time on something I actually know a lot about. As far as I know there are 4 treaty players who were at any point considered to be a treaty GOAT contender by any decent percentage of the treaty community (so, 2 treaty players or more hahaa). These are Sanderson_FIN, StormComing, me, and Julian (floko). My knowledge is limited to 2009 or later because when I first got into treaty in 2011 and started reading a bunch of Agecomm and TRT threads that's about as far back as I looked.iNcog wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 16:08Was it you or someone else who was treaty GOAT? Sanderson_FIN (2009? - 2010): I don't really know much about him because I wasn't part of the community when he played actively but from what I saw from discussions he seemed to be THE player of the TRT era. Pretty much everyone had nothing but good things to say about his play, and from the few replays I watched of him he seemed to win most of his games. My opinion is that he was definitely a talented player. He came back briefly in 2011 and there's this famous 3v3 rec where he, Stormcoming, and Milky played triple Otto vs Jeffro's Aztec, bode's port, and Fuher's brit. He held Bode's port + nats with no nats otto (50 unit disadvantage + civ disadvantage + teamcard disadvantage) despite being rusty. He probably could've come back during any era and with some grinding he would've been able to hang out with the best, but he just didn't play enough.
StormComing (2011-early 2012): StormComing only played for a year but he left an impact on the treaty scene. He was mostly considered to be a contender because of his results while playing on the SoulSong account, where he beat basically every relevant player in lobby 1v1s, but in my opinion he was never a real GOAT contender even for the time. His SoulSong 1v1s were impressive but his dominance streak just didn't last long enough (compared to Sanderson who to my knowledge dominated at least a year), and even on SoulSong he lost a port mirror to djun and a Spain mirror to OliverP (these single results shouldn't matter that much but his dominance streak was so short). There was actually tournament in the middle of 2011, and if he had won it I'd consider him the GOAT of that era, but that tournament was actually won by sabusa. I think when people called him the greatest they were biased because he was a really nice and outgoing dude, he gave the community a lot of content through recs, guides, and YouTube videos, and his SoulSong smurf was one of the greatest stunts pulled off in all of treaty and it generated a lot of buzz as to who it could be. But that's just my opinion, and to be fair when StormComing came back in 2015-2016 he said he wasn't that impressed by the top TR players of that time, and that if he could get to his peak form he'd like his chances against anyone. I'm 1000% sure he'd be impressed by Julian though.
Me (2015 - early 2019): I agree that it's kinda cringe to reference yourself in any GOAT contender discussions but to be fair I absolutely don't think I'm the all-time treaty GOAT. I was considered around 2015-early 2019 mostly because of my tournament results. There were 3 big 1v1 tournaments of which I won 2 (Lukas won one), and two weekend blitz tournaments of which I won both. Although my winrate was high I didn't really dominate lobbies though, I could drop games for stupid reasons pretty easily and lose MUs I shouldn't etc. Most of the tournies were also pretty close with some easily fixable things from Lukas that could've won it for him. But still I was pretty good.
Julian (2019+): Julian won the NR20 tournament in 2019 (I think 20 is more similar to 40 than anything else), and then won every single 1v1 tournament 2020 forward. His lobby dominance was also higher than any other player I mentioned, as in he'd often get teams stacked against him because he would roll any opponent he faced 1 on 1. I think he is the treaty GOAT by every objective measure as well as subjective ones, playing against him in treaty felt like how playing against peak lordraphael in supremacy used to feel. I have to play out of my mind and only make minor mistakes, and even then I need some combination of luck/help/a civ advantage to even take one win. From 2020 on he won every single non-blitz 1v1 he played except for two losses to me. He's also the most complete player out of anyone on this list, can play every civ at a high level and no weak civs, and is insane whether playing headsup or full map. At this point I think if any TR player surpasses Julian it will be Voltigeur, but that's only if top level TR games start happening again.
So when Julian calls himself the GOAT, even the fact that it's a meme aside it's not too far off since he is the GOAT at something related to Aoe3 (was kinda annoying when he was spamming it everywhere though). I also think Julian is definitely going to become the overall Aoe3DE GOAT, but he can't become the Aoe3 GOAT unless Aoe3 gets picked up for RedBull or something simply because all of these small online tournaments pale in comparison to WCG.

A most enjoyable read. what was TRT? because agesanctuary was for supremacy and I'm guessing TRT was a treaty forum? such nostalgia

Yea, TRT was like agesanc but for treaty. That is StormComing’s channel, I thought he deleted his treaty videos but it seems like he added most of them back, nice.iNcog wrote: ↑29 Oct 2024, 22:50A most enjoyable read. what was TRT? because agesanctuary was for supremacy and I'm guessing TRT was a treaty forum? such nostalgia
