Hello everyone !

After playing from 2014 to 2020 I had a truebreak from AoE III and now I'm just discovering DE, trying to play Ports without Mamelukes)(but with 3 organs shipment )(and so many other things)(too many civs and cards and units and Natives and weird abilities I will never be able to remember )(and too many parenthesis here). DE online interface is so badly thought that you can't even look for a player in some search field and add him to friends, the fact that it is not well suited for interaction makes me think that it's also less fun from this point of view. The elo system is fine but the military ranks are hard to understand. Anyway, maybe there are some things that I will enjoy more later. For example I'm happy that quicksearch works at my level.
Does the ladder of this site work for DE (ladder/aoe3de) ? It doesn't seem to have recorded my first games there
I'm also playing my last games on ESO while it's still possible... 8 days left ! Feel free to join the last of us these last evenings ! I'll not be as active as before because of work and family but I would like to know basically what's the state of the game (DE) and of the forums. According to the Active Topics list, there are not as many topics as back in the days, and the discussions are not very long. Are active people from the past still present (pecelot, jesus3, lemmings121, RSY, Jerom, EAGLEMUT, Mr_Bramboy, KINGofOsmane, iwillspankyou, Lecastete, SirCallen, gibson and MANY many others but I can't write all the name down) ?
Also most top players are gone if I see it right ? Not only _H2O and Blackstar, but also the legend Garja, LordRaphael, Mitoe, diarouga, WickedCossack, tabben, KnuschelBär, etc... who is this new winner of the last Tournament against Kaiserklein, JulianK (congrats to him) ? is he a new top player or an old one with a new name ? who is Revnak ? is piroshiki still active ?

Yeah the site isn't nearly as active as it used to be, everything happens on Discord servers now apparently. For ladder you can use https://aoe3explorer.com/ or https://freefoodparty.com/leaderboards . JulianK used to go by Floko83, maybe you remember him by that name. He is the best treaty player and he started grinding supremacy in 2022, and has transitioned to mostly supremacy now (not that many treaty games). Not so many EP-era top players around these days. Revnak is breeze.

Basically everyone in Somali Kabul Gaming retired, the forum is in hibernation, aiz still sometimes streams, wickedbicyclesack plays tean games, tabben kind of plays, ungurs drinks gfuel he’s the new young talent, castete has been running the esoc tournaments actually, kingofgodsmane shows up and shitposts every once in awhile, gua’s gpu cant play aoe3 but can play aoe4, soldier is a famous YouTuber now, there’s this guy crabgot all he does is make musk + goon and lie in twitch chat, musk falc noobs multiplied like rabbits, revnak is breezebrothers and went from ironically funny to unironically sad, piro has played a good bit on DE but idk about lately, ditto with greatscythe11, kerimb has become the imitation of piro archetypal, Mitoe, we miss mitoe, knusch is aoe4 player, garja doesn’t play but is so washed but sometimes shows up in chat. No raph, no rouga. In general less people are around for less amounts of time, but they’re still surprisingly resilient. The newcomers are either cool and interesting or boring and bad.

Welcome back! Many legacy players quit DE after trying it. Many already left before DE came out.

But, DE brought a lot of new names too. Just look at the top 20. I think JulianK is by far the best player right now. He streams a lot with his girlfriend nowadays (who he met on AoE3!) and it's quite fun to watch. Enjoy your stay!

King of the hill is unfortunately underplayed and most players don't even know what it is even though it's so fun ! With a few friends we played the last KOTH FFAs of ESO one day before close down and some people literally discoved the game mode but we had exciting games !

Yeah, King of the Hill (KOTH) is one of those modes that doesn’t get nearly enough love. It’s kind of wild because it’s so different from the usual gameplay, with everyone just trying to control that one spot in the center
