I could very well try to host one and I could definitely put some money on the line. I remember the last and only tournament we had I made one vital error that could of had me win the qualifying game.. but instead I ended up almost last.

It is a very fun chill tourney, and the format a few years ago was really good!

Yes the games can be decided by almost nothing... you must also adapt to the number of players becuase the clock also adapts... it is really interesting, I also remember one back in 2015 or so when @Cometk won with an abus gun cavalry archer combo and lost almost 0 unit (all other players including me were noobs though) I would be happy to see any KOTH tournament and/or more visibility for this game mode !

For me it would make or break based on the rules. I've always liked FFA and think KOTH is theoretically the correct way to play them, but I've never seen a KOTH game mode with good rules that create the right incentives. Not that I've really looked.

A basic concept could be: All players start with a timer at 3 minutes. When you hold the middle, your timer ticks down. First who reaches zero wins.

(Maybe this is already how it works, but for example in AoE2 the timer resets anytime you lose the middle I believe, which completely ruins the game mode)

That indeed is how it already works in AoE3. Timer doesn't reset.
