Next MU of the Week: Japan vs. Brits

Time for the next MU of the Month Week!

You can find all the old MUs here

I really have no idea how these two civs compare to eachother now, and neither is probably super OP, but I see both still being played a fair amount on the ladder. Japan players seem to have universally switched away from heavenly kami / port cons start to playing the faster, more aggro start with Tori gate and Japan consulate. Brits now have the GMT builds and age 4 pikes and siege longbows. In the old days, I think the received wisdom was that Brit goes musk and Japan goes Ashi and the ashis can run the musks around but ultimately the musks get better upgrades and win in a prolonged age 2 war. But what's the deal now?

What is the meta between these two civs currently?
What is the Brit player's goal in this MU, and what is the Japan player's goal?
Which civ is favored, and which civ is at a disadvantage?
What maps favor which civ?

What is the meta between these two civs currently? Brits OP they are favoured in almost every MU. Japaneses get bullied by almost everything, They even have almost impossible MU's like against aztecs lol.
What is the Brit player's goal in this MU, and what is the Japan player's goal? Brits goal is to deny japan's boom not letting them to build houses. Taking map control and getting more military and economic advantages. Japan may have a similar approach, outboom and push with a big timming.
Which civ is favored, and which civ is at a disadvantage? British is favoured.
What maps favor which civ? Larger maps make you walk long distances in order to search and destroy japanese houses and explorers. Shorter maps make playing agressive and taking map control easier for brits.

going to write a new brit guide a la the 42v in age 1 FI guide, but seriously, where the recommended BO for every MU is crates, crates, units, units
If I were a petal
And plucked, or moth, plucked
From flowers or pollen froth
To wither on a young child’s
Display. Fetch
Me a ribbon, they, all dead
Things scream.

The main idea of this MU is raiding and anti raiding. It's difficult to hold British if Japan just train units and defend at home, but British requires a lot of hunts and is vulnerable to raiding.

Brit poops on Japan they can just go full lb since they actually beat yumi and add musks later on when they see stable.
But if Japan somehow makes it past the 10 min mark and hits fortress they just win with their better units
