Surprisingly great answers everyone, helping me overcome a topic that embarrasses me -- the fact that my personal care routine hasn't changed since high school. It's time to hair out!

Just wash it twice a week, use conditioner, comb it, and get yourself a decent hair dryer. I'd personally recommend this one, although it is very expensive.

Don't you have any Asians living near you? They'll buzz cut it for free if you ask nicely.

Some of it is lighting and angles.

But I will feel much more comfortable in an interview with shorter hair.

I like the short hair better. Now the challenge is to find a job before it's long again.

You mean the actual cut or they style? My hair is pretty thin, not much can be done with it, and I don't like pretty much all the other styles of men haircuts which I mean those like instagram barbers who make the sides like 0 with long top and a sharp line shaved out or extreme fades.

Understandably so. But I gotta agree with David here. Neither one looks worse tbh but the long one has more... personal style I guess.

Ugh, you hit the sweetspot where they were long enough to be a mess, but too short to ponytail them. It's a real pain in the ass, i feel you. Mainly that's why i am a bit skeptical to letting my hair grow, but i think long hair can look good (on you it really does, shame that you had to cut it). Long hair also requires quite a bit of maintenance, otherwise it's just gonna look untidy and greasy.
Actually this thread is great though, there is so much good advice! It encourages me to give long hair another try, also because as you say it gives a bit more character, which i kinda need lol. I guess i am lucky i won't have to apply for jobs anytime soon, i still got 4 years in uni to finish. To be honest though i don't think long hair should get in your way of finding a job, nowadays there are many "aesthetical features" that i'd consider way more eye-catchy like tattoos, piercings etc etc.

I think this shit is prevalent everywhere , What does hairstyle has to do with the interview?

The style, I guess. You do need a fade imo. It's just a nicer style and it's ok with your head.

Your hair look fine the way they are right now for the interview; itā€™s much safer than long hair and you donā€™t want to give a reason for the interviewer not to hire you because itā€™s not conservative or neat enough according to his standards. Once youā€™re established at the firm you can still let them grow again, but Iā€™d go for longer than your previous length.
you need to shave before the interview btw
