The Grand Final, Championship Match will take place this August 19th at 2 pm Calgary time that's 10 pm Germany time that's 1 pm Pacific, 4 pm Eastern. Since the recording crashes on this scenario, I will screen capture the match and upload to youtube and post here after the tournament :) The 8 finalists will have a post game interview questionnaire sent out to them which will be posted here also. The names of the top 3 finishers will forever be engraved at game start in this risk scenario as "Summer 2018 Risk Tournament" and all future risk scenarios which I'll be hosting :) The next tournament will take place in the fall, sign ups will take place throughout September-October and the Fall 2018 Risk Tournament will take place during the month of November :)

From the 30 people that registered for the tournament through the 2 last weeks of July, in this very first iteration of the Risk Tournament, I have only got availability from 14 players. If anyone wants to participate during the games being hosted as a replacement of a player that is a NO SHOW, that random player can become part of the tournament. This is the OFFICIAL SIGN UP for the 2018 Summer Risk Tournament! The time has come for us to finally take part in the first ever Risk Tournament!!! As previously mentioned I have played this scenario (8 player) numerous times since early December (to the dislikes of my girlfriend) and I believe that it can become a successful and competitive tournament. I have refined this map (ATTACHED) to be as balanced as is humanly possible and aesthetically pleasing for your enjoyment.I strongly believe this can be a successful tournament for everyone, especially those players that aren't that great at 1v1 as are most of the tournaments on ESOC.
Tournament format:
Whatever number of players we have, first of all after getting scheduling sorted out, I can put you all into pools of player to begin the elimination games. All games would be recorded and checked for mooesbar hacking in post game free unit chart, it should say 0 for all players. Not only this but for future tournaments, the games should be screen captured and uploaded onto YouTube since I believe the recording of this scenario crashes for everyone.. Streaming is encouraged if you like but as the nature of this game, even if you hide one unit on the map it is in fact enough to survive and claim a spot in the subsequent games.. So be careful not to get stream sniped.. The final will be screen captured and uploaded onto YouTube, followed by interview survey for all 8 participating players of the Grand Final. The names of the top 3 players will be forever engraved in the start of this Risk scenario and all subsequent tournament games via initial onscreen text overlay :)
Also to give incentive to players, I am creating a new form of prize pool system. Whoever donates anything above $5 will be able to claim part of the winnings if not 'winner take all' to be decided. The tournament is free to sign up and play, but if you do not donate to the prize pool, even if you win the tournament you will not win any of the money. The next best player will take the winnings. So its up to you. I pledge $20 USD to the current prize pool Unfortunately for the Summer 2018 Risk Tournament there were only two players who pledged thus there was no Prize Pool.
Sign ups will take place from Today July 21, 2018 to around early August to get enough people to join as possible and for me to advertise this on AOE3 and the boards.. As this is the first ever Risk Tournament, lets hope for a good turnout and tournament atmosphere :)

HOW TO PLAY: So you want to know how to win
It's quite simple actually.. The game actually starts in the lobby where you decide which country to choose, there are only 6 choices. France
Britain
Germany
Russia
Spain
Ottomans
Before I explain why this matters, the main mechanic of the game is to build trade posts with your explorer on the trade post sites throughout the map, those trade post sites will then give you auto spawn units, from simple units to mercs, cannons, ships, and even forts, outpost wagons, and ironclads with a deadly range attack (in italy). That being said, this is why the country you choose matters:
The areas of the map corresponding to your country have the most unit types that will become Imperial level for you, all other areas are random and most likely will only give you veteran unit types. For example imagine choosing France as a starting country like I always do. If I was to settle in Spain, all the units that spawn in Spain would be veteran type for me, but if I was the country Spain, all those units would now be Imperial and thus way more powerful.. That being said, there will be units that will be Imperial for you outside of your countries region. For example. Curs in North America due to historically France being there during this period.. Or for example for most Countries, the Musketer unit will always be Imperial so if you choose Britain or France, and there is a musketeer post, it will not matter where on the map it is, it will be imperial for you. That being said moving on now! You can be the same country as someone else in the lobby, for example there could be 8 France in the lobby, and whoever wins France on the map, or manages to fight their way to victory wins, its simple :) You do not need to go to your country region BUT it is recommended. I often choose France and go to North America since I find it to be safer than going to France and having 4-5 players surround me lol.. Ultimately playtest the map and see what units spawn where to get a better feel for what country to pick.
Moving on!
There are 5 different spawn times per trade post..
30 Seconds for a basic unit like a musketeer or an infantry unit, or a hussar
60 Seconds for an advanced unit like a merc unit or some strong infantry like a Ronin(Viking) in iceland
3 Minutes for a Cannon
6 Minutes for a Ship, which varies in strength and speed, for example Frigates are only in Britain, Spain, and France since they had the most powerful navies in this time period.
8 Minutes for special unit types such as an outpost wagon(2) or a fort wagon(1) or an Ironclad(1) in Italy. These posts will only spawn these units once every 8 minutes so be patient..
There are a few trade posts that spawn multiple unit types, but the 2 which might seen weird is the trade post on the starting island and in cyprus.. The post on the starting island will spawn a ship, 8 merc units and 2 outpost wagons once every 8 minutes, and the post on cyprus will spawn a ship, 2 petards, 2 cannons, and 6 merc units every 6 minutes.. All other post will spawn a unit as described above.
Special Unit Locations:
Ironclads in Italy, and are the only weapon to kill someone on an island that fortifies themselves with cannons such as culverins or towers
Outpost Wagons spawn are located in : Southern France, Russia, Britain, Africa, and the Starting Island (Corsica)
Fort Wagons spawn are located in: Turkey, Germany, Spain.
Keep in mind each trade post will only give you 15 population limit, so going to Britain for example to camp, will only give you 60 units all game if you don't conquer more trade posts since Britain only had 4 trade posts X 15 = 60
Campers will not win. If you reach the max pop limit, your posts will not generate units, not even boats! Only towers and forts.. So plan carefully.Trade monopoly is possible if you control 35/69 trade posts! But given this population limit it will be very hard to defend it, especially if you don't control the ironclads
Also you will need to get at least 500 kills in order to accumulate 500 food (1 food = 1 unit killed) to encourage fighting and eliminate camping..Lastly and most importantly, diplomacy is key. Do not be afraid to make alliances and break them, help someone and then back stab them, stop a growing threat or be careful of becoming the target. Never trust no body lol this is Risk Europe not some Gentlemans game..
All units are worth 1 unit, (modified) and every 5 minutes there is an on screen data preview for each players unit killed and unit lost. Every 5.5 minutes there is another data preview of each players trade post count, population limit, and current population so everyone can see whats happening around the map and who is the threat
IN THE EVENT OF GAME CRASH, OOS, OR UNPLAYABLE LAG(UNLIKELY).. OR game freezing.. The game recording will have to be analyzed for foul play and a replay might be necessary unless one player has a clear advantige over another in the amount of units currently controlled and trade posts. Further rules will come :)

Yes you all raised your concerns about teaming during the playoff brackets leading to the Grand Final but that's part of risk, diplomacy, backstabbing, negotiations, sneakiness.. Make the best of it, after all this scenario is to simulate real world strategies..
Rules and Regulations:
1: You can be any of the 6 European nations allowed, being the same country as another player is allowed. If two players pick Spain, or 3 or 4.. Well then fight for it in the game.
2: To decide the winner of each match, or the top 2 or 3 players is simple. A player is not OUT of the match until all of his units are killed which will trigger that player being "OUT" of the match and no longer able to play :) So even if you have one unit left, and you hide it somewhere, yes theoretically that is all you need to survive if nobody can find and kill you :)
3:All games will be recorded and posted here so people can look over the strategies and so on. It turned out that the recording crashes on this scanerio for many players that try to watch it, that being said the final will be screen captured or streamed/recorded by one of the players and posted here :) As for future tournaments, screen capture/youtube link will be necessary for all games played for better tournament experience. I will examine each recording for map hacking and if clearly visible, that player will be disqualified. Mooesbar hacking is forbidden and if any player has more than 0 free units in the free unit post game chart, that player will be disqualified.
4: If a game goes oos or freezes, the recording will be reviewed to decide if any player caused foul play, or if there was virtually no chance of a player being able to win.. The final decision to replay such a game, or decide the top 1-2-3 players will be reserved by the tournament staff and a poll to whoever wants to review the evidence and comment what they think is the best course of action, via democracy.
5: Anything is allowed within the games except cheating listed above. For example if you choose France in the lobby but you go Russia, that is perfectly okay. You can do whatever you want to win, except cheat. Explorer glitch is allowed so keep a close eye on those.
6: If you're unable to make the time after I put you into a group please comment under this thread, please try to. I have tried to make everything as fair as possible and all of you to be able to play in the games.
7: The lobby will be created by one of the participating players before the scheduled kick off time and you only have around 20 minute to log in and enter the room past the time given, so for example if a game is scheduled at 8 pm Germany time, the latest the players must wait for all confirmed players is 8:20 pm before launching the match. If you're unable to come or you're severely late then the game will start without you and either you will not be able to continue in the tournament or you will be given a chance in the losers redemption game leading to the final so please don't be late.
8: All rights and rules and any unforeseen circumstance will be handleded by us as a democracy via poll here but I'm pretty sure all will go smoothly.
9: Lastly, in the event of unforeseen lag, unplayable lag, the game will be restarted within the initial 5 minutes to see if that fixed it. All players should know to remove all devices from wifi and stop streaming/netflix/snapchat/porn to decrease lag :)
10: if a player drops or lags out within the first minute, the game will be restarted.. If a player dropps/lags out after the first minute, the player therefor loses their chance at winning the tournament. If that player lags out and drops again during the restart, that player will have to play in the losers redemption game hopefully after fixing their computer issues :)
