How to defend against the 3-Hussar-Cheese in a French mirror?

It's actually surprisngly hard to hold if you're up 14 while your opponent goes 12/10 or 13 up. So if you see they're up way earlier than you, and expect 3 huss, you should probably just open musks or pikes. You're gonna have to micro your cdbs and maybe mm. Tbh aging 13 is just a huge advantage in that mu, because if you start inf and he doesn't ship 3 huss, you're behind, but if you start huss and he goes 3 huss, you might get idled forever.

If you start musks while he's up 13 and goes huss you're just pinned in your base and have useless leftover musks in fort. But yea we already discussed it

On EP maps with similar cdb age up you can probably just 4cdb 3 huss and be ahead. On any map where 3 huss can do damage (including simply when opponent ages with 13 cdbs) then it's not a cheese anymore, it's actually a legit strat so you might as well mirror it rather than counter it (you can counter it but he can do the same).

I don't think starting Inf is worse than starting huss, often on small maps I prefer to start with mosks and try to add huss later to price in the base. If he passes the age he will have his base destroyed and his economy broken and I will advance from a much more balanced age, if he goes to play in age 2 he will have far fewer mosks to defend.
