Nice Project ! Good to see others putting so much effort and having decent prizepool . Jagerchere the next SamRev continuing the FFA cycle
Re: The Last Crown FFA Tournament ($450 Blind FFA Tournament)
FFA tourney would be much cooler with special rules that assign points based on achievements such as "n° of destroyed buildings (or TCs)", "most res gathered", "most units killed", "most unit made", etc.
Not only it makes things more interesting but also that way you avoid most of the collusion concerns.

or just ban chatting
Re: The Last Crown FFA Tournament ($450 Blind FFA Tournament)
Regarding rules 16-18, it should be considered to allow attempting to restore the match from savefile.
Regarding rule 4, players are required to choose a new name for each match? Seems unnecessary, and the previous name can be easily seen through Steam anyway.

as a FFA enjoyer I am looking forward to this immensely. but tbh I think the bans are too complex. Just ban Italy imo. all these individual cards are much less impactful in FFAs where 2v1s decide the outcomes much more often than individually broken cards or units. Italy is just too strong though and should be banned from any serious tourney for the time being. or literally every FFA is going to be a 7 player italy mirror

Fair point actually. But you can only view friends profile in steam and since these will be family shared account people won't be able to track that right?

Re: The Last Crown FFA Tournament ($450 Blind FFA Tournament)
There are much better civilizations than Italy in FFAs considering these nerfs. I'm pretty sure the variety of civilizations in this tournament gonna be nice. Because even if someone destroy another player as Italy, then Italy scales off because their units are not the best so against other players they could potentially struggle a lot.Squamiger wrote: ↑14 Jul 2023, 14:15as a FFA enjoyer I am looking forward to this immensely. but tbh I think the bans are too complex. score system for achievements would also solve the civ/feature ban problem

Well, being able to pull a comeback in FFA was always there and I would say it's one of the features of FFA, if we implement a pointing system then it just depends on what score you get rather than the actual result of the match.

Nah you can use search even without logging in: https://steamcommunity.com/search/users/#text=kynesieJaegerchere wrote: ↑14 Jul 2023, 16:31Fair point actually. But you can only view friends profile in steam and since these will be family shared account people won't be able to track that right?
However, I've learned there is actually a way to clear past names so that should solve the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments ... nicknames/
Re: The Last Crown FFA Tournament ($450 Blind FFA Tournament)
FFA actual result is mostly dictated by luck or anyway factors that are not under your control. Still you can have an achievement that gives substantially more points for being the last man standing (as well as a scoring system for the remaining players). Working with achievements rather than just who wins the FFA is objectively superior in basically all aspects.Jaegerchere wrote: ↑14 Jul 2023, 18:17Well, being able to pull a comeback in FFA was always there and I would say it's one of the features of FFA, if we implement a pointing system then it just depends on what score you get rather than the actual result of the match.
Anyway, your tourney your rules. I just like to point this out any time it comes to FFA because it simply makes more sense.
Re: The Last Crown FFA Tournament ($450 Blind FFA Tournament)
I think just having the audience vote for players they like generally solves the problem of how to reward players who don’t necessarily win the game but still do well. It’s a much simpler solution, easy to keep track of, and also rewards players for fun strategies that might not be quantifiable as a statistic. Like a comeback where you run 75 villagers around the map for 10 minutes is pretty fun to watch but wouldn’t really count as anything in terms of points

Putting the tournament on hold as of the newest update of AOE III: DE the family shared accounts are considered as the free version so basically, players don't have access to their full version just like before. I will put an update on this once I found a new way to make the tournament with the same format (Blind) again. Stay tuned.

Re: The Last Crown FFA Tournament ($300 Blind FFA Tournament)
Very excited to hear about this and I love the blind/ voting format! This should be really good. I wish I had more experience playing this version I might join in~!
My background: +FFA+ clan "Leader" of over 200 members on TAD and thousands of FFAs played... I think its the best most dynamic way to play the game that mixes Sup and TR in a strategic way.
These are my top rated FFA civs on TAD (non OP civs Ports, France, Russia)
India/ Otto- being able to build FB and jump around and quickly advance barracks is how many battles are held and won.
Brits- with the manor card that trains vills makes them really resilient if they want to run and hide after taking a bad hit. Being able to boom quickly also is amazing.
Spain- good defenders to drain opponents and aggressive enough to make quick decisive battles.
China- should be counted as OP civ?
Some other rules that would be good to have:
No blockade/ no spies until last 2?
