8 reasons why Japan is a DE civ and should therefore be banned from the tournament:
1) Their houses produce resources like Inca and Sweden
2) They are a campy civ like Inca, Sweden, USA, Malta and Italy
3) They have speedy ranged infantry like Caroleans, State Milita, Gascenya, Fulani, Sentinels, Hoop Throwers, Bersagliere and probably ten more
4) Explorers have extra ability like USA and can teleport like Malta
5) Daimyos can receive shipments like Chasqui
6) Daimyos can train infantry and cavalry like African war camps
7) They scale too well into late game
8) They are no fun to play against like all DE civs

Due to several players requests, we made a few modifications on :

- RO16 will now be bo7 instead of bo5. The maps Bengal and Dakota have been added to the RO16 pool.
- Finals bo9 will now have a civilization reset available after game 5.

These changes will be displayed on the tournament rules soon.

There are 14 civs. I feel if we have 2 bans and if it went to 9 games, then people would be choosing 1 of their 4 worst civs for the last game. You still have to play 7 civs which is half of them. I feel that is pretty fair.

As mini said 14 civs for a bo9 with a ban is a bit tight.
I tried to follow the structure Std land map/Water map/No tp map/Tp line map to build the map pools, hopefully we have good civ diversity

Tbh I don't think there should be a civ ban in finals (or in any round to some extent), let alone 2 if that's the case. If we consider legacy civs to be decently balanced, which they probably more or less are, I don't really see the point of having bans. Players are basically just banning their opponent's best civs, resulting in lower level games overall, which is sad.

You have to play 5 civs since it resets after game 5, which is still decent I guess. Having to play 9 civs with 2 bans is rough, but 9 without bans would be alright.

Personally I disagree. If the civilizations are quite unfair I could see there being a ban, but if balance is relatively good then allowing 1 ban just makes the tournament harder for underdog players or players who happen to have a smaller civ pool.

Lacking a diverse civ pool doesn't mean you are a weaker player, just that you aren't as diverse as some other players; and this is already a disadvantage because it makes you more predictable.

Personally I want to see players at their best, playing a style that really shows off what kind of player they are. Banning away their best civ is a guaranteed way to prevent that from happening as frequently.

Ye, the civ rules are mostly just for the viewers. If it was only about crowning the most deserving player then even just one civ would be enough. Winning is about winning, not showing off you can use many civs.

ye quite agree with that, in fact i do not want a ban rules tbh, i'm strictly against the civ reset in the final haha, civ reset on this map pool just mean 2X otto 2x fre prob and port or haud, it's not good for the competition for me and not good either for the viewers, winning the final by using 2X otto because it's broken and 2X fre for exemple because 2 insane map for them ye, it's simply bad for me it should be more strategies behind it
for exemple : " wait if i pick fre on florida my fre won't be available on mongolia, let's think a bit of which civ my opponent could pick" , this is what it should be and not " lets pick fre on florida and whatever i'll go fre on mongolia too ", ye great... this is honestly bad for me haha
