Probably in the minority here but glad to see the tourney isn’t legacy civs only.

keep the tradition going boys
If I were a petal
And plucked, or moth, plucked
From flowers or pollen froth
To wither on a young child’s
Display. Fetch
Me a ribbon, they, all dead
Things scream.

On the survey I've asked to all 2024 tourney participants, none of them complained about that specific revolt (or general balance issues). hence no restrictions

Well, Baja is basically impossible to beat and you can do a survey for that here to see:)

xD what is that for an argument ? When that survey got shared Baja wasnt even on the table and everyone was crying about that they gave up the game....

We even got public advertisement from Microsoft, please do a proper tournament.

Imagine that this comes 10 years after the legendary _H2O vs. BlackStar_OP finals.

It's not an argument, just the main reason why they aren't any restriction (so far)

That revolt looks pretty strong but it's fun to watch in a game.

Hopefully there will be good numbers with this Microsoft mini-promo.

Facing Baja over and over on ladder is boring but I don't think allowing it (or other supposedly OP strats) in a tourney is that problematic. Play it yourself then if you think it's a free win. Most viewers don't seem to want banned stuff and what are tournies without viewers?
Also historically players seem to prefer their go-to civs over the assumed best picks for each map, I personally wouldn't Baja if I've not practised it even if it's the best choice on paper.

Also it's one civ per series

Except for a dream and a fuckin' rap magazine " - Eminem

"And we hate po-po
Wanna kill us dead in the street fo sho' " - Kendrick Lamar

Sounds like a you problem ngl, can never have tourney rules that satisfy viewers + every active player..

How do we even decide what civs/strats are to be banned? There'll be a ton of personal bias, some will argue USA chinese immigrants is just as OP on high tp maps - should we ban that too then? Oh let's ban 4 Jaguar BB in age2 as well! And is it fair to announce such bans 2 weeks before matches begin? That would be a huge disadvantage for someone who practised those strats last months. Also what if your average viewer who doesn't grind the ladder at 2k+ ELO wants to see the most broken stuff showcased? How much should player opinion matter if they're not funding the majority of the prize pool? Some tricky questions that need to be raised..

I think we should learn from Soldier's showmatch this year - add two skilled players & varied maps (viewer picked), a sizeable prize pool and you'll get fantastic games + lots of viewers. The Baja game that series was super hype and if you don't like it it's just once per player/series in the end. And again, many players will pick civs in their comfort zone over the best pick on paper.

in a sense ur right, but here its just baja nothing else, im not personnally asking for anything else, that strat recquire nothing and you know it tabben, i mean how many time we've seen strong players losing to shitters just because of baja unkillable units, taking ur exemple usa and aztecs atleast you have play the game and better players still win the game, you make vills make building you have an economy, you play an RTS, can we say the same about baja ?
All baja do is putting tps on coin and training unkillable units with skirm throwing bomb and goons killing skirms like wtf is this, its not fair
You say players will pick confortable picks but no, well really i hope so but i don't think its going to be the case, we'll see 2 baja games/serie with a chat saying " baja very fair " or " baja is retarded " in front of 300 viewers, very nice

Really im glad we have DLC civs allowed and no bans, but baja must be banned nothing else and this is a huge mistake for me to not ban baja, this is not RTS and not competitive at all and its not only my problem as we saw in the previous comments or looking at who's signed up

So yes in a part its my problem ofc and i'll don't sign up for sure if baja is in, but its not only players, viewers too, and yes viewers want to see the best players playing with the best strats, but im not sure viewers want to see 1700 elo baja players winning the best players, that said i really hope its not going to be the case obviously
