For some reason I cannot help but suspect you're connected to a port-restricted cone-NAT router. Please try to either replace it with a less restricted one, deactivate its firewall (completely or at minimum for GR and AoE3). Please refer to your router's user manual, consult your ISP, or see this website (ignoring the advertisement at the top).

It doesn't really matter. I have the same message and I can connect with everyone. Maybe it applies to other games because aoe3 doesn't need the blocked ports? Either way you should be fine. The only way to "fix" this message is to buy a new router which doesn't have this issue.

Try to play with a vpn, that should fix ur problem

Click on "Learn More" when you see this messgae, it's well explicated by GR how to fix it.
Basically, you need to connect to your router by finding is IP adress and open some UDP ports.

To connect to your router if you use Windows, open the command prompt, and write the command : ipconfig.
Then you should have something like that in "the black" picture below.

Now open an IT browser, and write the numbers in the URL area like in the "white" picture below and press enter.
Now, just read what gameranger says and open the ports.

You can play normally unless someone's name in a room is in italics.
Try vpntool.com. Helps me.

vpntool does fix the problem, but causes severe lag and connection issues to me (here in Central Europe).
