This was talked about in a stream the other day but seemingly no-one has run with it so I will-

Aoe3 world cup- teams of four, matches Bo7 4x 1v1, 2x 2v2, 1x 4v4.

Four groups of 4 teams, top seeds Germany, France, U.K. and N.A. second seeds Finland, Sweden, Netherlands +someone else.

Strictly for fun- just a suggestion.

The EPL kind of did it. A national thing is a bit awkward to set up, but the EPL was truly an amazingly fun league that was well run.

A national themed tournament wasn't well-liked by the players when we inquired into it a while ago. The general consensus was that France/Germany/UK would win it while countries with fewer top players (Turkey, Italy, Netherlands EleGiggle) wouldn't be able to participate.

You could do some kind of France-UK vs the rest of the world or English speaking vs non English speaking. Like the good old URSS vs the rest of the world in chess.

I wonder is there anyway of handicapping a match not via the in-game handicap but via something to do with score differential?

You could allow one team to moesbar a predetermined number of crates or have one team stay idle for a few seconds (like they can't make a clic until 15 seconds in the game).

Yeah that keeps it an odd amount to avoid draws but the single 2v2 might bias it towards teams with 2 outstanding players, for instance kaiser/diarouga, so maybe 3 2v2's where teams can't repeat any pairings.

Well, if we were to face each other by elo it would be
kaiser hazza

Tit (or castete) not sure who

Most likely ending in a 4-0 score for France

Then hazza+sam vs kaiser+rouga
tls+4th play vs titnesie

Most likely ending 1-1

UK would most likely win the 3v3 and no idea how the 4v4 would go.

In the end, it would be something like 5-2 for France. Of course, shit happens and it can be quite random but France would still be the big favourite considering UK doesn't really have a 4th player and France is better in 1v1.

rapha, erik, lukas, goongoon ? Probably, it would be something like 3-1 in 1v1, 2v2 1-1 (and not even sure because hazza/Sam vs rapha/erik would be super close), UK would win the 3v3 and lose the 4v4 so 5-3 for Germany.

Germany vs France would be impossible to predict however.

Germany or France probably has best chance tbh, UK has some good players but none winners.

It's a fun idea but like Incog said it's probably just another EPL. Except it's with people who don't necessarily get along well, and with very imbalanced teams.

Yeah that would be the funniest part actually.

I think the way it would have to work would be that the higher seeded team nominates their player/s for each match first so that the other team could bin a lower seeded player in order to secure a better match for their best player.

Maybe also they have 5 players with one as a sub and they have to use the sub in one match at least so that a team could sub in a player vs kaiser etc and try to win the second seed match or sth.

I'm not really massive about the idea but I would donate £250 to it if it happens, no harm in work-shopping rules for future reference should it ever become more feasible.
