Dopps do well against small numbers of ash, but en masse yeah they just get dumped on. Ashi have horrendous base melee damage so if you can get them in melee with anything that isnt cav they're barely better than pikes. Of course if there's 30 ashi you cant get them all in melee...

That actually means you were outmassed. Ashigaru are about 1.2 military population while counting for 1 military population. Germany on the other hand has uhlans which count for 2 military population, yet they are only worth about 1.5 military population.

@deleted_user4 speaking of your left flank here, at 00:39, you go back with your hussars despite your opponent having not much anti-cavalry left alive. you could've just gone further in and attack moved, and split up your hussars. after you had gone back you didn't reposition small groups of hussars to spread out the damage, so they all clumped up and ran around each other. i think you capped your DPS and could've won this fight harder, but given that 11 changdao's popped when you were about to clean, you likely would've had to've gone back no matter what.

bottom line though is you are retreating your hussars too often when you don't need to. instead of retreating your hussars and losing time that you could be dealing damage, simply dragbox a small group, reposition them horizontally, and attack move them. this means you aren't wasting time and damage and your hussars will clump less.

That battle is actually close because even tho you have lot of huss you don't have that many musks to snipe off anticav while huss makes their way throught.
In open field you can probably just smash in everything without moving at all and poweplay it. In the trees with buildings blocking pathing etc. it's not ideal.
Battle starts with his anticav on the wrong side so it's good for you. He only has some redcoats on the left against which you move away 25 huss (which is ton of dps). Should just don't move at all or move the very few huss targeted by redcoats in meelee. Bear in mind that your not so many musks are gonna suffer a bit so if you move all your huss you have very low dps for too long.

Yeah surround more and pull back fewer huss while targeting anti cav with your inf
Also generally speaking, splitting your cav in 2 groups can help in this kind of situation
