Kiting is easy lol. Of course you need to know how to kite, but you don't need a crazy micro to become pr30-35/
Re: Improving Apm and Micro
it's somewhere inbetween micro and positioning for me tbh
kiting is like.. continuous positioning

I like to make the difference though, because what I call micro is linked to the mouse control and mechanics while positioning is just strategy.
Re: Improving Apm and Micro
I dont understand how people can say that micro doesnt matter. Killing 3 extra musk in an engagement is a net 300 resource gain for you. Just because you don't have to have god tier micro to be a good player does not mean its not important lol

Sure, but having iddled vills and floating 1500 food is much more than this. If you have 10 less units in a fight, you're going to take bad trades regardless of the micro. My point is that most players below pr35 stack a lot of resources and don't get as many units as they should (it happens above pr35 sometimes too), and it's easier to fix.
Re: Improving Apm and Micro
Macro is indeed important but for how this game works, usually the amount of resource worth of units killed/lost in battle tends to prevail, at least in the mid term. Sometimes battles are simply game deciding so it's not even about how many extra resources you squeeze out of it.
Re: Improving Apm and Micro
Yea especially if youre killing 2-3 more units every engagement that can quickly snowball into an insurmountable lead regardless of show floating 1500f
Re: Improving Apm and Micro
Lol this thread just reveals how micro is supremely underrated. But it’s kinda true that micro is perhaps less important than micro until PR32+ or something.
Anyway it’s hard to quantify. All aspects of the game are important.

You haven’t watched many players under PR37 attempt to kite maybe. Almost everyone screws up after 1-2 repetitions of kiting. Either by just not being able to keep up and continue repeating the kiting, or by turning and shooting too soon before their units have reloaded etc etc
I see people lose games because of poor / non existent kiting all the time, it’s actually insane.

Re: Improving Apm and Micro
This discussion reminds me of a game I casted between a 2lt and ms. While the 2nd lt was better at spending his resources he took extremelly bad fights and the ms had really good raiding and took nice engagements while stacking resources to get industrial even if he was at colonial. Turns out that each player has a playstyle and they should focus on minimizing their weaknesses while trying to get advantage from their strenghs. There is no such thing as micro being 100% uninportant. That just works because you guys have way better knowledge of the game than the captains you get when you're smurfing in the qs.

Micro is important at high level because people can macro and have a basic strategical understanding but it's not really important to get to pr30.

Re: Improving Apm and Micro
The way I view it is where the most resources are to be made. Having 5 idle vils or slightly mis macroed is less important than winning the fight often. There are 1000s of resources on the line for proper control in those fights. Plus natural resources disappear faster when you macro better which is why we often see players gather similar amounts on less villagers. The walking time and effectiveness of the resources is critical.
