When you know you are right, push the center!
Let every man do what he is trained to do and if he can not let him withdraw
always cover your retreat
ability to mobilize quickly and anywhere is one of the greatest strengths a military can have
nothing beats big guns and superior firepower, nothing but bigger guns and more superior firepower
a military must be specialized to suit the task it was made for
cavalry should be fast and strong, able to strike anywhere at any time without warning
Cavalry to strike, infantry to hold ground and artillery to destroy.
Do not overkill a single target, well micromanaged artillery wins the day.
when you have a superior military, do not be afraid to push!
always invest in military upgrades
never attack without purpose, move your armies to ground worth holding, do not attack without a clear objective and do not waste your armies having accomplished nothing.
protect your artillery

Most of them Apply to warfare in general but also to aoe3 major exception that I see is "nothing beats big guns and superior firepower...." Because actually there is one thing that butchpoems that : the Sioux warchief

Sun Tsu also has alot of great things to say about warfare. You can read his Art of War here: http://www.puppetpress.com/classics/Art ... SunTzu.pdf starting at page 35.
Don't let the things you can't change dictate your life.
