Freetalk Friday 1
Re: Freetalk Friday 1
I dont understand why, no matter what time I try to go to bed, it takes me an hour+ to fall asleep. However, if i'm at home on my computer at 2-3pm I just fall asleep in my computer chair.
Re: Freetalk Friday 1
What do you do right before bed?
Re: Freetalk Friday 1
Ive done various things. Walking outside, listening to an audio book, nothing, watching tv, video games etc. Nothing changes.

It's stress/anxiety. Even though you may not think you're stressed/anxious, it may just be deep within your subconscious.
Time is wise and our wounds seem to heal to the rhythm of aging,
But our past is a ghost fading out that at night it’s still haunting.

So I've been really stressed for 4 years?XeeleeFlower wrote:It's stress/anxiety. Even though you may not think you're stressed/anxious, it may just be deep within your subconscious.

What has helped me is not drinking Coffee past 6 PM. Getting a bluescreen filter on My pc and Phone, and not eating right before bed.
Re: Freetalk Friday 1
Also make sure you're properly hydrated.

Possibly. There are other factors to consider as well, of course.chris1089 wrote:So I've been really stressed for 4 years?XeeleeFlower wrote:It's stress/anxiety. Even though you may not think you're stressed/anxious, it may just be deep within your subconscious.

Well fuck now I'm gonna be stressed because even tho I don't feel like it, I will know that subconsciously I actually am anxious.XeeleeFlower wrote:It's stress/anxiety. Even though you may not think you're stressed/anxious, it may just be deep within your subconscious.

There are techniques, such as guided relaxation, that help with this. Meditation is nice, but does require commitment to see lasting results.

You need to accumulate fatigue during the day to get to the point where you're sleepy enough to just crash.
I think lots of ppl have trouble sleeping today because they live sedentary lives so at the end of the day not enough tiredness has built up.

Also a lot of people have irregular sleeping schedule which only further hinders the ability to fall asleep.
Turning down the light 1 hour before bed helps your melatonin rise and thus helps you sleep.
Your brain needs to drop its heath slightly when falling asleep so keeping your room cold and not too hot helps.
I don't think humans were supposed to stay up so late. Often we stay up past the middle of the night in the weekends and thus have such changing sleep times when the workdays begin on monday once again.

Ye this is true. When I cycle 30 miles or do a type of physical labour that I'm not used to I sleep quite quickly. I'm just not exhausted most days.Dolan wrote:You need to accumulate fatigue during the day to get to the point where you're sleepy enough to just crash.

That might be a case of non-24-hour sleep–wake disorder.voigt1240 wrote:Also a lot of people have irregular sleeping schedule which only further hinders the ability to fall asleep.

Since so many peeps work in offices devoid of natural light, their circadian rhythm gets out of whack, due to melatonin not being released in the right amount at the right time.
Maybe what we all need is to throw away the computers and go back to hunting and farming. Uninstall AOE3 and become AOE3 vills irl.

I have a phillips light that works by mimicking the sun so at night it goes down slowly when i'm reading and it wakes me up like a sunrise does, it's relatively pricey but works really well.

when I was struggling to wake up I employed a kind of hack version which was when my alarm went off, to put the flashlight on my phone on bright and prop it up against a pillow so it shined in my eyes, like sun.
