ESOC Insight Studios: Fight Night
ESOC Insight Studios: Fight Night
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce to you the latest creation of the Insight Studios - FIGHT NIGHT
Fight Night is a mid-high PR quarterly League which offers all players PR 20+ the equal opportunity to win some $$$!
Current Quarter ends June 30th
Current Prize pool is $100
To donate to the Prize Pool - Donate here!
I will list all donations for transparency and for thanks!
(Give me time to do this, I have to notice it before I can do it. :) )
How it works
1.) Players sign up for Fight Night here - viewtopic.php?f=33&t=9720
This is the list of players we contact for week to week scheduling.
2.) Fight Nights are on:
a.) Saturdays 2000GMT+0 thru 0000GMT+0(8pm thru 12am)
b.) Sundays 0800GMT+0 thru 1200GMT+0(8am thru 12pm)
3.) Combatants sign up for the timeslots a week in advance and are placed into a pool in order of signup.
4.) When Fight Night Starts the first person in the pool is matched with a person of similar PR and ELO. They fight in a Bo5. After this is over, the second person in the pool is matched with a person of similar PR and ELO. They fight in a Bo5.
Once you have played in a series -- you are placed at the back of the pool -- this includes if you are the one matched. So if the first person in the pool is matched with the second person in the pool, once their series is over they are put at the back of the pool and now the third person in the pool is the one to have a partner matched.
League System
There is a quarterly prizepool fueled by donations. I will put $100 into the pool for the first quarter. As you play Fight Night's you earn points.
1.) The series LOSER earns ONE point for participation.
2.) You earn ONE point for each game you win.
3.) If you win a series you earn 2x points for each game you won in the series.
Example: 2-3. Player 1 lost series. Earns 3 points. 1 point for participating, 2 points for the games he won. Player 2 earns 6 points for 3 games won x2.
This system means that a player who has a high participation rate can still place on the Top 5 wall and earn some $$$.
Prize Pool %'s.
1st - 40% of pool.
2nd - 20% of Pool
3rd - 15% of pool
4th - 10% of pool
5th - 5% of pool.
This leaves an extra 10% to be used for Casting Incentives and for YouTube ads.
Casting Wall:
Casters will receive 2 points for every series they STREAM
Casters will receive 1 point for every series they CO-CAST
The Top 2 casters will each receive 2.5% of the pool.
Casting Requirements
Streamers MUST be able to stream in HD with no framedropping.
Streamers MUST be able to use the 2.2 Casting UI.
Streamers MUST be in the Studio Discord.
Co-Casters MUST have a good ping.
Co-Casters MUST be in the Studio Discord.
Streamer selections will be based on previous experience and trust.
Co-Caster selections are first come first serve.
Fight Night RULES
1.) Games are played on the latest EP Patch*
a.) If both combatants prefer RE they may play on RE
b.) If one combatant wants to play on RE but the other wants EP, the games will be played on EP.
2.) Players must be ready to play during the Fight Night timetable. If you are not ready within 5 minutes of being seeded for the next series -- you will be placed at the back of the pool. You can try again when we get back to you.
3.) Streamers work in One Hour Shifts and may apply for multiple shifts. (Must finish a series that has already started, even if it goes past one hour.)
4.) Co-Casters may be swapped out each series.
5.) UI 2.2 Compatible Maps will be used.
6.) Rotater mod is allowed.
7.) Alt D (And other explorer revival hotkeys) is not allowed.
8.) In case of a disconnection -- Fight Night Admin decides win based on
a.) Game time before 2 minutes -- rematch
b.) Both players want to rematch -- rematch
c.) Who was determined to be winning at the time.
d.) Who disconnected
e.) If an Admin is not present in the stream chat -- the Streamer decides.
9.) There are other rules which probably need to be added, make fun of me and I will add them.
For 30+? Yay, I just have the requirement to be the lowest player in there. Wait for my quick 0-3 appearances.

Sounds really cool! I definitely miss Saturday Smackdown and Fight Night seems to be something similarly exciting. 2-3 times a week will provide so much content!

2-3 a week looks pretty ambitious to me. Smackdown was once a week and there were always problems to get good players to play in it

@lordraphael
Also, regarding the map pool, I don't think every map is meant for competitive play.
I think it's because almost only pr32+ players were involved in the Saturday Smackdown. Perhaps there could be 1 Fight Night for LCM-level on week days and the main event (pr32+) over the weekend.lordraphael wrote:notification

Yeah I think it should be once a week as well. There was a lot of hype surrounding Smackdown, which was kinda due to their relative scarcity. 2-3 seems kinda excessive.

@site
you mention a ladder. How long will each "season" will last, or in other words, how often will prizes be awarded and points reset?site wrote:notification

And you wouldn't be as hyped.
Re: ESOC Insight Studios: Fight Night
oh 2-3 a week, i thought a month. i'm also more for the 2-3 a month thing regarding official insight matches bc its not as exclusive if its going to be several times a week. just doesnt really pay off with the effort you make
Re: ESOC Insight Studios: Fight Night
Everything is subject to change. The map pools aren't going to be open ended. I will work to make several map pools that seperate the maps into categories and each poll votes from one category.
The ladder will be ongoing and never reset, I think this is the best course of action. You can see an ongoing ladder which shows who has the most participation, most wins, etc.
Frequency can change as well. I like the idea of one LCM game and one High Level game a week.

Re: ESOC Insight Studios: Fight Night
IMO the great thing about Saturday Smackdown was its consistency. Every Saturday, at the same time always, I could tune in for some aoe commentary. And because it was so reliable it gained a lot of repeat viewers. I would highly recommend finding a guaranteed time slot on a guaranteed day each week to do this.
Re: ESOC Insight Studios: Fight Night
I can commit to a time. The problem is that time might not be the best for everyone. I can stream any night beginning at 0400 GMT and continuing as late as 0800-0900 GMT

This is true for any stream. Some of the non aoe streams I watch are very consistent in their schedule which really motivates me to watch again.
Re: ESOC Insight Studios: Fight Night
I think an all-time ladder might be cool, but having monthly ladders or something like that might be cool as well.
