Anyway, the challenges look much more doable now, so it's a good start. But yeah having it in finals makes it kind of impossible to do regardless. Not worth the risk.
doable? really?
2) Economic Victory (10$) : Win with Trade Monopoly without resetting the timer for more than 3 times.
4) Starved (30$) : Win without sending anything that gives you resource crates and/or resources. (So age up rewards, consulate crates, big buttons, native post techs and such stuff is now allowed) (Reduced the reward as such to 30$)
5) Industrialization (10$) : Win after reaching Industrial age before 10:30 mins.
6) Strategist (30$) : Win after defending with just TC, Outposts, Forts, and other similar buildings without training any units (CM are allowed) for 15 mins. (Of Total Game time including age 1)
(Time reduced by approximately 9-10 mins, hence reward reduced to 30$)
from these I see only 5th which is doable. for example the economic victory is not even up to you if you want to win it, it's your opponent who makes the decision to quit or not before the timer runs out. Thinking you can beat another top level player with 4 or 6 is just as absurd.
The Garja factor doesn't apply to simpletons like us.

Well you just skipped the 1 and 3, which are both pretty doable. Then yeah 5 can be doable in some mus on some maps. Trade monopoly might work if you reach late game, but yeah it's kind of dumb because opponent can decide to resign before, or you can just start it when the game is over anyway regardless of trade monopoly. Still, it could happen, if somehow you reach late game. 4 could work if it's a very short game, like fb war, where you ship only units, but yeah pretty unlikely. Then yeah 6 is probably impossible.

Yeah, and the 4th challenge pretty much eliminates all the builds from this game which are used.

Re: Playoff Challenges
you already play for prize money/fame, so there is already a reason for the best player performance. why would anyone risk losing the finals for a lousy challenge? and how can this improve the tournament?
maybe try this: make the challenges $5-10 (+ESOC-forumbadge?, challenge completed) and hard to achieve for PR 25+ (to ensure a good game) during season 2.
the games should matter (risk vs. reward), no "showmatches" (Bo1/Bo3 matchpoint games only). this could make the round 64 - 8 games more interesting.

Obviously the challenges are going to be tough, considering if you win you are going to win something extra than the normal prize money, it makes perfect sense if you have to take that extra step for the extra buck
Fine line to something great is a strange change.

If anyone goes for these challenges in the finals then they will lose anyway and thats more money lost. The only reason you put these challenges here is to make it seem like you're giving money but you know full well nobody will go for these ridiculous challenges.

Re: Playoff Challenges
You might go for them if you expect to loose. You have a chance to receive the money and you can blame it on the challenge if you loose.
give that guy a manual

Re: Playoff Challenges
Why are you making this about money when its not? There is a possibility someone might attempt and I shall have to pay, Which I am perfectly happy too. I want to see some non standard play and I ready to reward anyone who puts in the effort.

Re: Playoff Challenges
Man, just no one is going to do this in the finals. It's weird and spontaneous and inconsistent with competitive integrity. What if McDonalds did some $-incentive, arbitrary "challenges" for the super bowl? Let em play for the title, take an average of what you'd be willing to pay and donate it to the pool.

If you lose you don't get any money from the challenges. You need to win the whole finals.
Maybe make it that you only need to win the game in which you realize the challenge (except for the 3 twc games challenge obviously) to get the money? Would be a bigger incentive then.
