Is 20 Range Goon Unit Fine?
I do not understand why the already lame tower defense USA civ has been given a stupid cowboy unit with a 20 range charged attack. The bull's eye animation seems so fast that those goons can snipe my 20 range skirms without them even firing back. It's like Lakota Bow Rider except it can even kite skirms. If that's not borderline busted it's still incredibly annoying to play against.
The charged attack range should be nerfed (should be 18 at most).

The moba abilities in this game are mostly all stupid, explorer crackshot maybe being an exception.

Cowboy builds are annoying not only because of ranged shot ability, but their excellent and constant economy. Capitalism, Dutch immigrant, bank wagon, 3 saloons: those sum up to be a colonial factory (and rebuildable!), providing huge and constant coin flow. Cowboys don't rely much on map resources (just as shrines, banks), and become laming combined with endless raiding.

the USA civ makes a compelling argument against playing aoe3. cowboy build even more

Well DE is kinda fine if you can play lobby games against a decent guy who doesn't lame all the new dumb shit. Just quicksearch really sucks, but then again you can't even quicksearch on EP either

it would be fine if they incorporated more balance changes. for instance... Increase goon range to 20, but that card then reduced the armor 10%. This does not effect its ability to counter cavalry in a worse matter, but allows the unit to be countered better by its counter, since 20 range also lets goons counter their counters much better.

I still don't understand why devs were open to combine buffs/debuffs in some cases (like Samurai +10% speed but also +10% cost or Solingen Steel with +50% hp/dmg but a crippling -33% speed), but not in other cases. It is a bit sad that the debuffs are usually too strong.

im pretty sure it is a mixture of the 2, which i honestly think is fine.
good players are likely to figure out if something is broken and might say why it is broken, but good players are rarely as willing to talk about severely underperforming unit. if no one ever buys a unit and no one ever talks about it does that mean the unit doesn't deserve love?
i also think you shouldn't just take everything a good player wants and just do it, not because they are necessarily bad suggestions in a vaccume but because some change suggestions might seriously impact the general populace negatively. giving more siege dmg to a fast unit is not ever a good idea as an example.
