I've explained my point countless times in other threads, not gonna bother again just because like 5% of the community can't understand them and keep crying about alt d every single time Haha, the "I explained this before and I don't care but I'm right" argument. How sad. Not that I'm sur...
Re: ALT + D
Honestly not worth wasting time answering jerom and papist, they just lack the common sense required to make a difference between obvious glitches and abusing well defined mechanics. I'm being rude but it's just the truth I'd say you can't defend the views that you consider obvious, and thus you ju...
Re: ALT + D
Saying using alt-d is unfair is like getting angry that the opposing football team is trying to use offside to their advantage.
It's like saying it's unfair that the opponent is killing your explorer to begin with. By this standard anything can be called unfair because it's just completely arbitrary.

Re: ALT + D
So what? You can't call something unfair that is not unfair.
Well I guess you can, but that's the actual "retarded" thing going on here.

Re: ALT + D
I don't think reviving explorer by changing it's stance was intented. What would be the purpose of it? Pull trick and treasure guard creeping have a purpose, they make the game a lot more functional, if they didn't exist the game would be a lot crappier. It definitely wasn't intended and I don't th...

Re: ALT + D
Pull trick is actually pretty new in aoe3's history, so I dont know how you concluded that a few devs would test and find it when millions of players took years to really discover it. Its not new at all...and you just cant remove it from the game for gameplay reason like tedere has explained there ...

Snuden wrote:So if I press "Alt + d", my explorer revives?
If yes, the argument that it should be allowed is ridiculous.
Why?
Re: ALT + D
Wow i havent read the whole discussion but there is some obvious point. I'm not pro of this but i guess in every game (i hope) while it is designed, there is people who have to...test the game. Do you think that these aoe3 guys haven't seen the pull trick and treasure creeping stuff while testing ?...

Re: ALT + D
Yeah, I agree with this sentiment. The OP asked a question and got his answer. Abusing exploits is classified as cheating in any competitive online game . Any further discussion has already been done a thousand times. You would think that more than 10 years after the release date people would at le...
Re: ALT + D
What defines a bug then? A bug is the result of the game code, just like something that is not a bug. In that sense, any bug or any behaviour is actually "well defined". There is apperantly some magical distinction between alt-d and treasure creeping that I dont see.

Can we just delete this thread, go spill bs in the 546 other threads about alt d Yeah, I agree with this sentiment. The OP asked a question and got his answer. Re: ALT + D
Your list of points cannot determine the truth of "alt-d is a cheat". It can determine the truth of "banning alt-d in tournaments is prefered for practical reasons". Let's not stick on semantics. nomenclature is of little significance. Name it a bug, name it a feature, name it a...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_exploit#cite_note-Consalvo_07,_113-2 Tsk, tsk. You are lazy today. 1) Exploits have been classified as a form of cheating; however, the precise determination of what is or is not considered an exploit can be controversial. 2) Exploit =/= hacking. I didn't sa...
Re: ALT + D
How are they not arguments? Don't pull out the "this is not an argument" card every time you disagree I don't mind an alt-d ban, but your arguments don't argue anything. It's a list of facts. You either need to expand on them and show the logic because you're not presenting an actual case...
Re: ALT + D
You are in a logical fallacy here. Certain explorers are by design more special than others, therefore it's useful for the player to get rid of them. It is an important unit and you can revive them with a price; that may be 100c ransom, waiting to reach 100hp, dance in firepit. Alt+d equals no pric...

1) Water gives an advantage to some civs
2) Water doesn't always have a drawback
3) Water is relatively easy to execute.
Ergo we should ban water play.

Re: ALT + D
I m telling you again, nomenclature is of little significance. Whether alt+d happens in casual games matters only for the players that are involved in that game. The fact that there are arguments against its use on tournaments should end the discussion: 1) Advantages only for certain types of explo...
Re: ALT + D
1) Advantages only for certain types of explorers (Warchiefs and monks are overall more special than european explorers) 2) The experience points earned aren't a given situation, therefore the drawback isn't present at all times 3) It is easily executable, considering it's vague whether it's intent...
